Phil’s BBQ Dry Rub (Barbecue)

Phil’s BBQ Dry Rub

As promised I added Phil’s Dry rub recipe to our recipes.  Any dry rub recipe is probably good, but we think simple is best.  This dry rub works great on Brisket, Beef Ribs, Pork Ribs, Pork Shoulder, Pork Butt, Chicken, Turkey, and Sausage.  Generally we rub the meat a few hours ahead of smoking, so the flavor has time to seep in the meat.  A thick coating is best.   If the quantities seem like a lot, remember you need a liberal coating on your meat.  Sam’s Club or Costco is a great place to buy bulk spices cheap.  We use Tony’s Cajun seasoning, but you can add your favorite Cajun seasoning or make your own.  You can add extra cayenne for a spicy rub.

2 Cups Paprika

1/2 Cup Granulated  Garlic Powder

1/2 Cup Onion Powder

1/4 Cup Black Pepper

1/4 Cup Cajun Seasoning

1/4 Cup Chili Powder

3/4 Cup Brown Sugar

Add all ingredients in a bowl (large mason jar with lid works great) and mix well.  Will keep for a few months in a dry place.
